OLIVET, Mich. – The women's basketball team traveled to take on Olivet College Wednesday night. The Bulldogs were in a battle with the Comets that saw four players from Adrian reach double figures in scoring. The Bulldogs would fight back from a 33-29 halftime deficit and take the second half edge, but the Comets outlasted Adrian, 78-76.
The Comets would open a 16-5 lead early following a 10-0 run behind Stefanie Lang as she would go on to score 33 points and add nine rebounds for the night. The Bulldogs would respond and battle back into the game led by Amber McCullough as she led the Adrian attack with eight points for the half.
The second half saw the Bulldogs overcome the Olivet lead and tie the score, 37-37, with 14:55 remaining as Jorden York and Antoinea McElroy hit clutch three-point shots. York would continue to lead the Adrian offense for the half as she would total 22 points for the evening, including 16 in the second half. The Bulldogs would not be able to answer Olivet's Lang as she kept the Comets out of reach with 18 points in the second half. Marissa Cotton would hit a three-point shot with two seconds remaining to bring the Bulldogs within just two of the Comets, but Olivet was able to outlast the Bulldog charge and drop their 2014-15 record to 7-17, 3-12.
Adrian will finish their 2014-15 campaign on Feb. 21 when they travel to take on Alma College at 3 p.m.
