BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Senior guard Antoinea McElroy (Massillon, Ohio/Washington High School) made Adrian College women's basketball history on Tuesday as she was selected for the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware. McElroy is the first student-athlete in the program's history, which dates back more than 50 years, to be recognized for this national weekly award.
McElroy led Adrian to a 2-0 week versus Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) competition, averaging a double-double of 27 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 69.0 percent from the field (20-for-29). She started her week with game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-63 win over visiting Alma on Wednesday. She added three assists and two blocks. On Saturday, the communication major scored 21 of her career-high 33 points in the second half as the Bulldogs overcame a 17-point deficit to stun host Trine, 67-60. McElroy added 13 rebounds. She was 8-for-10 from the floor with 12 rebounds in the second half.
On Monday, McElroy earned the MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She also is the only representative out of the North Region to make this week's national D3hoops team.
For the season, McElroy is second in MIAA scoring at 16.0 points per game, third with a 10.2 rebounding average, fourth in 3-point percentage (.438; 7-16), fourth with seven blocks, seventh with 12 steals and seventh in field goal accuracy (48.6 percent, 36-74).
