Senior Antoinea McElroy Caps Bulldog Women's Basketball Career with All-MIAA Accolades

FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College senior guard Antoinea McElroy (Massillon, Ohio/Washington High School) has been named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball First Team, it was announced on Friday at the MIAA tournament.

McElroy had her best season in 2015-16 to cap off her four-year career in a Bulldogs uniform. She ended the regular season with the following MIAA statistical ranks: third in scoring (14.4 ppg), third in rebounding (8.8 rpg), fifth in blocked shots (21), sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (.373), seventh in 3-point field goals (38), seventh in free throws made (70) and eighth in field goals made (119)--all career highs. She also 42 assists and 37 steals for two more personal records.

In December, she made program history as she was the first Bulldog ever to be selected for the Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware. She also was the MIAA Player of the Week during the same time.

McElroy's D3hoops award came on the heels of averaging a double-double of 27 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 69.0 percent from the field (20-for-29). She started her week with game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-63 win over visiting Alma. She added three assists and two blocks. Then she scored 21 of her career-high 33 points in the second half as the Bulldogs overcame a 17-point deficit to stun host Trine, 67-60. McElroy added 13 rebounds. She was 8-for-10 from the floor with 12 rebounds in the second half.

The communication major has led Adrian in scoring in each of the past two seasons, and finished with 883 points and 528 rebounds.
