Former Bulldog Captain Named New Assistant of Women's NCAA Hockey Program

ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College is pleased to announce the hiring of Kaylyn Schroka as the Assistant Coach for the women's NCAA Hockey program.

Schroka returns to her alma mater after spending a season playing in the National Women's Hockey League for the Buffalo Beauts. She posted 10 points in 16 games in her one season in the NWHL and was named Player of the Week once.

After the season ended Schroka returned to Michigan and spent four months working as a marketing and sales representative for Presden Consultants before working as an outside sales apprentice for ADP in Troy directly before being named assistant coach.

Schroka was a two-time captain as a member of the Bulldogs' NCAA squad and ranks in the top-three in every offensive category. Her 149 points, 69 goals, and 80 assists are all second-best in program history. Schroka's 11 game-winning goals and 21 power play goals are the third-most in team history.

Head Coach Shawn Skelly was thrilled to have Schroka join the staff, saying he "Couldn't be happier to have an Adrian College alum and former two-year captain come back and be the new assistant coach of our NCAA women's hockey program. In order to continue our program's success, we needed to bring in an individual that had respect not only from the college, but the players inside the dressing room, and Kaylyn achieves that goal."

"This is a really impressive group of girls, real talent and team chemistry, and I can't be more excited to be joining them as their assistant coach alongside Coach Skelly," Schroka said. "Being a part of this program again means a lot to me. I only have good things to say about the community and school and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to be back in a professional role. It feels like I'm back home."

Skelly has familiarity with Schroka, as he was the assistant coach for the women's team during Schroka's senior season. "I had the chance to coach her in her senior season and her passion for the game is unmatched," Skelly continued. "Her wealth of hockey knowledge will come in handy helping our program reach new heights."

Schroka is a native of Belleville, Michigan and earned her bachelor's degree in business administration in marketing and a minor in psychology from Adrian College in May of 2017.
