Bulldogs Blank LumberJills to Complete Sweep

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's hockey team completed the sweep of Northland on Sunday, Nov. 4 with a 1-0 shutout of the LumberJills. The win gave the Bulldogs back-to-back shutouts for the first time since Feb. 17-24 of last season when Adrian blanked Marian three times in a row.

Final Score: No. 6 Adrian 1, Northland 0

Location: Adrian, Mich. (Arrington Ice Arena)

Records: Adrian 3-1 (2-0 NCHA), Northland 0-2 (0-2 NCHA)

Despite playing last night, it felt like most of the first period was the two teams feeling each other out. Northland took the first two shots of the game, but Adrian didn't allow a single shot for the remainder of the period, outshooting the LumberJills 9-2 in the first period.

Continuing the theme of last night's game, the second period was dominated by the Bulldogs. Shots in the second saw a 19-5 advantage for AC, and the Bulldogs were able to get the only goal they needed with 25 seconds remaining in the period. Senior forward Kortney Diaz cycled with the puck in Northland's zone and sent the puck towards the net. A scrum ensued, and ended with sophomore forward Sydney Daversa getting her stick on it and sliding it to senior forward Hannah Dalrymple who put it past the goalie in the bedlam in front of the net.

The Bulldogs had an opportunity to extend their lead in the third period, as they had a five-on-three situation for 1:23 early in the final frame. Northland was able to kill of the penalties and keep the lead at 1-0 for Adrian. The LumberJills pulled their goalie with 40 seconds remaining in an attempt to tie the game but the Black and Gold's defense held strong to finish out the game for the shutout.

• Dalrymple scored her first goal of the season for the Bulldogs.

• Daversa and Diaz notched assists in the win.

• Sophomore goaltender Mia Glassco turned aside all 13 shots she faced in her first game of the year.

• Allyson Reilly led Northland with three shots on goal.

• Gabby Suhr made 41 saves in the loss, giving her a total of 84 for the two-game series.

The Bulldogs have a home-and-home with Trine this weekend, traveling to Trine on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. before welcoming the Thunder to Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday for a 3 p.m. game.
