NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Announces Details for 2019-20 Season

ADRIAN, Mich. – In his second season as head coach of the NCAA women's ice hockey team, Shawn Skelly '11 and Adrian College have announced the squad's 2019-20 slate.

Skelly saw an exceptional first season behind the bench, leading his team to a 24-5-2 mark, guiding the Bulldogs to their second-ever NCAA Frozen Four appearance in program history. AC claimed it fourth-straight Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) playoff championship, while picking up its fifth-straight conference regular season title.

The 2019-20 season will kick off with two exhibition contests, the first with North York on October 19, slated to begin at 7 p.m. The second game is the squad's annual Black and White game, an intrasquad scrimmage taking place at 4 p.m. on the 26th.

Regular season play begins with a three-game home-opening weekend, starting on the first day of November, as the Bulldogs host the Hamline Pipers for a 7 p.m. puck drop. Returning to action on Saturday and Sunday, AC will play host to Saint Mary's (Minn.) for 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. contests, respectively.

Adrian will travel to Marian (Wis.) for a pair of road games on the 15th and 16th. The Friday night matchup is set to begin with a 6 p.m. puck drop, while Saturday's will begin at 5 p.m. The Bulldogs return to action the following weekend (November 22 and 23), for an away-and-home weekend series with Trine, to open up the conference slate.

The month of November comes to a close, while December begins when Adrian travels to Middlebury, Vt., to take part in the Panther/Cardinal Classic on Nov. 31 and Dec. 1. When the Bulldogs took part in the tournament during the 2018-19 season, they beat then-No. 2 Plattsburgh State for the first time in program history and No. 4 Middlebury.

The women's ice hockey team will host conference competitor Aurora on December 7 and 8, slated to have 7 p.m. and 3 p.m. starts. Fall 2019 will closeout with an exhibition contest with the University of Windsor on December 31, with puck drop set for noon.

Spring 2020 will get under way at 5 p.m. on January 5, when AC faces off with Elmira at the East-West Hockey Classic, being hosted by Norwich. Play will continue on the 6th, facing either Norwich or Plattsburgh State, depending on how things iron out.

For their first home series of the New Year, the Bulldogs will host Utica College on January 11 and 12, with the games set for 7 p.m. and 3 p.m. puck drops respectively. To follow is another home series, this time with NCHC member, St. Scholastica.

St. Scholastica will come to town for contests on January 17 and 18. Friday's game will start and 7 p.m. while Saturday's is slated for 3 p.m.

January will come to a close with a two-game road series at Finlandia on the 24th and 25th. Games will take place at 4 p.m. and 3 p.m.

February will hold six conference games, with happening on home ice and two away. Competitors include; Lake Forrest (1st & 2nd), Concordia Wisconsin (7th & 8th), while the season draws to a close with a home series with St. Norbert on the 14th and 15th.

The NCHA playoffs are set to follow the regular season, with the top-6 teams making the tournament. The conference champions will receive an automatic-bid to the NCAA tournament.
