NAPERVILLE, Ill. - According to a poll conducted by the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Head Coaches, Adrian College was picked to finish first in the conference after winning the conference title last season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 16-5 season in which they went 6-0 in the conference and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
The Bulldogs return a number of key players including nine All-MWLC players from last season. Senior Amanda Lambert will be back after being named MWLC Offensive Player of the Year during a season in which she totaled 101 points on 70 goals, while being second on the team in ground balls with 41. Senior Rachel Johnston also returns for the Bulldogs as she was a 1st team selection on the MWLC All-Conference team last year. Johnston is the top returning scorer in Division III with 89 goals a season ago.
Also returning for Adrian were 1st team All-Conference members junior Cassie Hoyez, junior Stacey Birlson, senior Lindsey Day, and junior Olivia Duncan. 2nd team All-Conference members from last season include sophomore Hannah Early and senior Laura VonderHaar.
The Bulldogs and first-year Head Coach Rachel Cibulas will also start the season ranked 19th in the nation by Lacrosse Magazine. The team will officially kick off the season at the University of Michigan to take on their club team on Feb. 5th. The first home game for the Bulldogs will take place on March 17th as Washington & Jefferson College will travel to Adrian for a 2:00 p.m. start.
