HOLLAND, Mich. - The women's soccer match against Hope College on Saturday seemed a little like deja vu as the final outcome was the same as earlier this season with the Bulldogs falling 2-1 to the Flying Dutch. A battle between third and fourth place teams in the MIAA was important for positioning coming down the final matches of the season.
Adrian currently leads Saint Mary's by three points in the MIAA standings as the top four teams qualify for the postseason tournament. All of the goals in this one were scored after halftime. Erin Jipping notched her fourth of the season at 55:02 from Maria DeShaw from six yards out. Sam Barker tied the match at the 60:37 mark unassisted on a shot from 10 yards out off a deflection.
Lindsey Bieri got the game-winner at 68:57 with Nora Kirk getting the assist. Bieri shot from close range to give the Flying Dutch a one-goal lead that would hold up. Adrian had three shots on goal while Hope recorded eight.
