FREELAND, Mich. - Junior Mackenzie Wilcox was chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in week one of the season.
The Battle Creek native scored four goals, three of which came in a 3-2 win over Westminster (Pa.) on Labor Day. The three-goal performance gave her the first hat trick in her career, as well as her second career game-winning goal.
Wilcox is leading an Adrian offense that is much improved over last season. The team has tripled the number of goals scored in non-conference play from last season (6/2) and are just two goals shy of last year's total goals scored (8)--all in just the first three games of the season. Wilcox herself has already quadrupled her goal total from the 2015 season and scored over fifty-percent of Adrian's goals this season.
This is the first time in Wilcox's career that she has been selected as the MIAA women's soccer Player of the Week.
