FREELAND, Mich. - Adrian College women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Ayverie Giller was selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. This is Giller's first conference player of the week honor in her Bulldog career.
The Grand Ledge, Michigan product had a huge week in net for Adrian as she kept both of Adrian's opponents scoreless. Her week started with a 3-0 victory over Alma in which Giller remained untested as the Bulldog defense prevented the Scots from recording any shots on goal for the game.
Adrian ended last week by taking league-leading Hope to a double-overtime draw. Giller made 13 saves in the 0-0 tie against the Flying Dutch to help the Bulldogs extend the scoreless streak against opponents to 363:25 that has extended through three games.
This is Adrian's first MIAA defensive player of the week selection since 2015 and it's the second MIAA player of the week selection for the team this season (Caroline Fleming was named MIAA offensive player of the week on September 25).
The Bulldogs will be on the road to face Trine on Tuesday, October 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., ET.
