FREELAND, Mich. – Adrian College's Eve Davis and Ayverie Giller– of the women's soccer team – swept the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) Player of the Week awards for the week ending Oct. 13. Davis was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Giller garnered defensive honors.
For Davis, this is the first time the freshman has received conference recognition, thanks to her six points through the week's three contests. In Wednesday's 2-0 win over Calvin, the Canton, Mich, native posted her first of three goals, ensuring the Bulldogs' victory.
As AC traveled to Kalamazoo on Saturday, Davis posted an assist on the insurance tally by Caroline Fleming. To round out an impressive week, the forward had a team-leading two goals as they downed North Park University, 9-0 on Sunday evening.
As for Giller, she went 2-0 in conference play to improve her season record to 6-3-2, both wins being shutouts. She posted three saves against Calvin on Wednesday and a season-high 11 at Kalamazoo on Saturday.
The Bulldogs look to remain perfect in conference play, they rank first with a 4-0 record, as they travel to Hope for a 12 p.m. MIAA contest on Saturday.
