Fleming Reaches Career Benchmark in Road Victory

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Adrian College women's soccer team made light of St. Mary's College (Ind.) Belles on Wednesday night, shutting them out under the lights. Senior Caroline Fleming posted her surpassed the 100 point mark with her game-winning goal.

Final Score: Adrian 2, St. Mary's 0

Location: Notre Dame, Ind. (Purcell Athletic Fields - St. Mary's College)

Records: Adrian 12-4-2 (5-1-0 MIAA), St. Mary's 5-9-1 (0-5-1 MIAA)

It took Fleming no time at all to make the stat sheet, as recorded the eventual game-winner in the 11th minute. The Grosse Ile, Mich. native was helped along by McKenna Mahoney and Molly Safreed, as she was able to redirect a pass of a throw-in on the sidelines.

Fleming's goal was enough for her to reach 101 points, making her 1-of-3 Bulldogs in program history to reach this benchmark. Most recently, Erin Weide collected 118 points in a career, active between the 2011-2014 seasons.

Makenna Mascaro ensured AC's victory just 30 minutes later, as Mya Oleksiak passed the ball along the top of the box, where the freshman received it and put it past St. Mary's goalkeeper.

Time in the goal was split in half for the Bulldogs, with Ayverie Giller playing the opening half, and Kristen Page the closing stanza. Giller posted one save, while Page contributed two in Adrian's ninth shutout of the season.

While happy with the win, Head Coach Ali Alamdari had this to say, "Anytime you go on the road and earn points, you have to be take them... but we know we left opportunities on the field and needed to be sharper in the beginning of the match. We'll get to work in training and prepare for a tough Trine side on Saturday."

Adrian returns home on Saturday, as it honors the team's six seniors in a 12 p.m. MIAA contest with Trine University.
