FREELAND, Mich. – Classmates Caroline Fleming and Brooke Teska – of the Adrian College women's soccer team – were named the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Players of the Week of the 2019 season.
Fleming was selected as Offensive Player of the Week, after an impressive outing in the MIAA tournament, collecting eight points over the course of the two contests, involved in 6-of-9 goals.
In Tuesday's 5-2 semifinal win over Albion, the conference MVP had a goal and two assists. Her tally to tie the game at one ignited the Bulldogs' comeback, as they posted two more to close out the first half.
The senior posted four points in the MIAA Finals, again recording two assists and a goal.
Teska collected the first MIAA honor of her collegiate career, named Defensive Player of the Week.
The senior, collected a point in the conference finals, recording an assist on Megan Louwers' goal, which was fueled by her corner kick.
Described as the "unsung hero", Teska has been a captain on the squad over the past two seasons, instrumental in shutting down opponents' offenses.
The Bulldogs return to action at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday as they take on Wis.-Stevens Point in St. Louis, Mo. in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.
