Softball Team Posts Two Wins on Day Two

CLERMONT, Fla. - On the second day of the spring softball trip, the Adrian Bulldogs collected two wins to improve their record to 3-1. On the day, the Bulldogs put four different pitchers in the circle which led to the victories.

In the first game against Concrodia-Moorhead, senior Maggie Hein led the Bulldogs to a 5-4, 8 inning victory as she went 3-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base. Sophomore Sarah Muncey started in the circle for the Bulldogs, going three innings, and striking out two. Junior Jami Shafley pitched four scoreless innings in relief, striking out six.

The Bulldogs picked up their second shutout win of the season in an 8-0 win over Rose-Hulman in the second game of the day. Freshman Brooke Stewart pitched all five innings, giving up only two hits and striking out seven to earn her first college victory. Eight different Bulldogs scored runs in the game, with sophomore Brittany Bertrand hitting a triple and driving in two runs.

It will be an early start for the Bulldogs tomorrow as they will play a 9 am game against Davenport, followed by an 11 am game against St. Xavier. The Bulldogs will have a day off on Wednesday.
