CLERMONT, Fla. - The two morning games for the Adrian Softball team weren't the outcomes the Bulldogs were hoping for as they fell to two NAIA schools on the day. The first game was a loss to fellow Michigan school Davenport, 2-1, followed by a 1-0 loss to St. Xavier out of Chicago.
Senior Kelly Eberhardt had a strong performance in the circle during the first game, throwing seven innings and giving up two runs on six hits while striking out six. The Bulldogs picked up a run on an RBI Triple from senior Katrina Wotten, as she drove in fellow senior Sarah Hall.
Eberhardt pitched five innings in the 1-0 loss to St. Xavier, giving up no earned runs on three hits, while striking out three. Junior Jami Shafley pitched the other two innings for the Bulldogs, giving up two hits and one earned run. The Bulldogs failed to reach base safely throughout the game.
The Bulldogs will have the day off on Wednesday, then come back for two more games on Thursday. The first game will be an 11 am start against Houghton, followed by a 1 pm contest against Wartburg.
