ADA, Ohio - A 3-1 victory in the first game followed by a 4-1 loss in game two at Ohio Northern made the Bulldog Softball team now 10-7 (2-0 MIAA) on the year. Senior Kelly Eberhardt pitched a total of ten innings on the day and went 1-1 for the Bulldogs.
In game one, freshman Brooke Stewart scored a run in the first, third, and fifth innings on the way to the 3-1 win for Adrian. Stewart went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and three runs, which was a career high.
Eberhardt had a strong performance from the circle, pitching seven innings, giving up six hits and one earned run while striking out nine. Sophomore Brittany Bertrand hit a double and drove in a run for the Bulldogs.
In the second game, Ohio Northern got on the board in the third when Kimi Blewett hit a two-run home run against Eberhardt.
The Bulldogs were able to get a run in during the fifth when Katrina Wotten flew out to center field and Bertrand advanced to third, and then went home safely on a throwing error. It wouldn't be enough for Adrian, as the Polar Bears scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, making the final 4-1.
Adrian will have to bounce back quickly as the Bulldogs have a doubleheader against MIAA opponent Alma on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host the Scots for a 1 pm start, as Alma currently sits at 11-4, coming off an MIAA title from a season ago.
