ANGOLA, Ind. - Adrian split its fourth series in a row, after falling 4-1 in the first game and coming back with a 2-1 win in game two at Trine University. Adrian is now 13-10 (5-3 MIAA) as they are in the middle of a tough stretch of April games.
In game one, senior Kelly Eberhardt took the circle and was unable to pick up a victory after giving up four runs on five hits in six innings, and striking out seven. Eberhardt gave up a two-run home run to Trine's Lauren Harris which made the game out of reach for Adrian.
Eberhardt was a horse for the Bulldogs on the day, also starting the second game. The senior dominated the game, giving up zero runs in the first six innings. Eberhardt finished the game going seven innings, giving up one run on five hits while striking out three.
The Bulldogs were able to get off to a fast start, picking up two runs in the first inning which was all the run support Eberhardt needed. With one out, senior Sarah Hall knocked in Maggie Hein and Katie Dewyre giving Adrian a 2-0 lead.
Trine was able to get a two-out run in the top of the seventh inning, but Eberhardt got Leah Hall to pop out to Hall at second base to end the game.
At 5-3 in the conference, Adrian now sits at third place in the MIAA, having split with both second place Albion (10-18, 3-1 MIAA) and first place Alma (19-7, 7-1 MIAA). The Bulldogs will head to Olivet on Wednesday for a doubleheader with the Comets, which are currently 7-15 (2-2 MIAA).
