ADRIAN, Mich. - The Bulldogs escaped the rain, but could not escape the Knights of Calvin, falling 1-0 in the second half of the doubleheader which was a make-up game from yesterday. The two teams went into the seventh with no score, but a walk off single from Calvin's Christie VanderMeer scoring Meghan Smith was the difference in the game.
Senior Kelly Eberhardt pitched good enough to win, despite falling for her 11th loss on the season. Eberhardt went 6.2 innings, giving up one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
The Bulldogs threatened in the top of the second inning, with runners on second and third and only one out. The next two batters were retired however, as Lina Avila was able to sit down Sarah Hall and Tara Camper.
With the loss, Adrian finishes in third place for the MIAA regular season. Adrian will look ahead to its next game, in the MIAA Tournament, which will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Trine, against the two-seed Alma. The Bulldogs and the Scots split earlier in the season in a doubleheader that was hosted at Adrian.
