ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's softball team (15-15, 9-5) took two games from Olivet College (9-19, 2-12) Friday afternoon in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matchup.
In Game 1, Brooke Stewart pitched a no-hitter into the final inning before Olivet got three hits in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Adrian took the first game of a doubleheader, 6-1.
Adrian got off to a great start with a four-run first inning and added two more runs in the fifth for the win.
Kaitlyn Hinojosa doubled in the fifth knocking in Adrian's fifth run and then scored the team's sixth run off DeVore's groundout to second base.
Stewart (9-6) struck out eight before giving up one run in the final inning, while Hinojosa and DeVore led the team in hits with two apiece. DeVore and Brandt led the team in RBI's with two each.
In Game 2, Adrian went up 5-0 after two innings before the Comets made a game of it with a three-run third inning. The Bulldogs would add single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 7-3 lead. The sixth inning would see Adrian add three more runs, while Olivet added two.
Jessica Sarch led Adrian with three hits in the second game, while Hinojosa and Dewyre would add two apiece. Dewyre had three RBI's and Hinojosa two. Single RBI's would come from Macy Laws, K'ya Toles-Burton, Kelsey Meyer, and DeVore.
Meyer (6-9) gave up 10 hits and had six strikeouts for the Bulldogs.
Adrian will conclude its regular season tomorrow against Albion with a doubleheader. The first game is slated for 1 p.m. and the second game for 3 p.m.
