Bulldogs Start Season with Split In Clermont, Fla.

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Adrian College softball team began their 2014 season as they headed to Clermont, Florida for their annual spring trip. The Bulldogs began play Sunday as they split their first two games of 2014 by taking down DeSales in the opener, 4-2, then falling to Susquehanna, 5-1.

The Bulldogs took on DeSales University Sunday in their 2014 opener. The Bulldogs were led to their 4-2 triumph by Kelsey Meyer as she pitched all seven innings and gave up only one earned run.

Jessica Sarch went 2-4 on the day with a run scored and Karissa DeVore compiled a 2-3 game with a run scored and an RBI. Macy Laws tallied a 2-4 game as she went 2-4 with a triple, a run scored, and a stolen base.

The second game saw the Bulldogs take on Susquehanna University. Brooke Steward took the rubber for Adrian as she pitched six innings and totaled five strikeouts. Stewart also had one of the five Bulldog hits as she knocked a double.

DeVore went 1-3 with an RBI and Katie Dewyre went a perfect 3-3 with three singles and a run scored.

Adrian will continue their play in Clermont, Florida as they take on Immaculata and Thiel on March 3.
