Bulldogs Split on Final Day in Clermont, Fla.

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bulldogs finished their spring trip Friday evening as they took on Elizabethtown and Grove City. The Bulldogs split their final day of action as they shut out the Blue Jays, 1-0 and fell to the Wolverines, 2-1.

Game one was highlighted by Kaitlin Lock as she pitched a one-hit shutout against Elizabethtown. Lock pitched seven innings as she struck out five and faced 22 batters and advanced her 2014 record to 3-1.

The Bulldogs scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth as Jessica Sarch knocked in Kaitlin Schneider.

Sarch went 1-3 with an RBI and Schneider went 2-3 with a run scored.

Game two saw the Bulldogs fall to Grove City. Kelsey Meyer took the mound for the Bulldogs as she gave up three hits, two runs, and struck out six. Meyer drew the decision as her 2014 record is now (2-2).

Grove City jumped on the board first as they took a 1-0 lead after the fourth inning. The Bulldogs tied the game up in the top of the sixth as Kaitlin Schneider knocked in Amanda Sare on a sacrifice fly. The teams remained tied heading into the bottom of the seventh before the Wolverines used some two-out magic to prevent extra innings and drop the Bulldogs, 2-1.

Brooke Stewart and Rachel Jason went 1-3. Kaitlin Scheider had an RBI and Amanda Sare had a run scored.

The split puts the Bulldogs 2014 record at 5-4.
