Dominant Game Two leads to Adrian Sweep of Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on cross-town rival Siena Heights Thursday evening and Adrian got the best of the Saints as they swept the double header. These two wins advance the Bulldogs record to 9-6 on the season.

Game one saw Kelsey Meyer pitch a complete a complete game as she earned her third win of 2014. Meyer struck out four as she advanced her season record to 3-3.

The Bulldogs took the early 1-0 lead in the second when Jessica Sarch singled in Rebecca Greco. The Saints then evened up the score in top of the third before the Bulldogs put two more runs on the board. Greco doubled in Karissa DeVore and then Greco later scored on a passed ball as the Bulldogs took the 3-1 lead after three innings. The Bulldogs took their lead to four in the fourth when Morgan Brandt scored on a passed ball and later scored their fifth run when Brandt stole home. Adrian got the best of the Saints in game one, 5-3.

Jessica Sarch went 2-4 with an RBI. Rebecca Greco went 2-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Game two was highlighted by Brooke Stewart as she pitched the complete game while striking out 10 and allowing only one run.

The Bulldogs came out hot with their bats and stayed that way as they scored four runs in each of the first three innings. Katie Dewye went 3-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, Karissa DeVore went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead the Bulldog offense. K'ya Toles-Burton hit a three run home run on her way to a 2-2 performance with five RBI and two runs scored. The Bulldogs cruised to a commanding 11-run victory, 12-1.

The Bulldogs will see action again tomorrow, April 11 when they host Calvin College at 5:30 p.m. for the finale of their April 2 game that was postponed due to darkness in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, Adrian batting and the bases loaded.
