Bulldogs Fall Short to No. 5 Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Bulldogs took on No. 5 Trine University Saturday afternoon. Adrian battled the Thunder and held in tough but Trine got the best of the Bulldogs as they lost both games. This drops the Bulldogs to 9-9 overall and 1-5 in the MIAA.

Game one saw Trine take the lead early. The Thunder scored one run in each of the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead after two. Trine that opened their lead to 5-0 as they scored three runs in the bottom of the third and they managed to hold the Bulldogs scoreless as Adrian fell 5-0.

Kelsey Meyer (3-4) drew the decision for the Bulldogs as she pitched three innings and allowed five runs. Kaitlin Lock pitched three scoreless innings and allowed one hit.

Jessica Sarch and Katie Dewyre each went 1-3.

Game two saw Adrian hold the Thunder to only one run as they battled Trine tough for all seven innings. The Bulldogs were not able to overcome this pitcher's duel as the Thunder held off Adrian, 1-0.

Brooke Stewart (2-3) drew the decision as she pitched five innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out four. Kaitlin Lock pitched two scoreless innings as she struck out one and gave up three hits.

K'ya Toles-Burton went 2-3. Karissa DeVore went 1-3.

The Bulldogs will see action again Monday April 14 when they travel to Defiance for a double header that is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
