ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs met Hope College for their final home double header of the 2014 season. The Flying Dutch got the better of Adrian in both games as the Bulldogs fell 3-1 and 7-5. These two losses leave the Bulldogs at 15-13 overall and 5-9 in the MIAA.
Game one saw Hope take a 1-0 lead after the first. The Bulldogs then battled back into a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning as Kaitlyn Hinojosa singled up the middle to score Katie Dewyre. Adrian could not hold on to this momentum as Hope scored twice in the sixth to take game one, 3-1.
Kaitlin Lock (6-3) drew the decision as she pitched the complete game and struck out seven batters.
Kaitlyn Hinojosa went 2-3 with an RBI. Katie Dewyre went 1-2 with a run scored.
Game two saw the Bulldogs come alive with their bats as the team totaled 14 hits. Adrian and Hope battled back and forth with the Bulldogs having the edge after five innings, 5-4. The Flying Dutch then took the lead for good with a three-run sixth inning as the Bulldogs fell, 7-5.
Brooke Stewart made the start on the mound for Adrian as she pitched two thirds of an inning, allowed two runs and struck out one. Kelsey Meyer (6-6) drew the decision as she pitched 5.1 innings, allowed five runs and struck out six batters.
The Bulldogs will see action again tomorrow, April 24 when the travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a double header set to start at 3:30 p.m.
