CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bulldogs began their 2015 season on their spring trip in Clermont, Florida. Adrian started with an impressive 8-0 win in six innings over Wesleyan (Ga.) behind a complete game shutout performance from Brooke Stewart. The Bulldogs then followed this with an 11-3 victory over Muhlenberg College behind Kelsey Meyer as she pitched a complete game with five strike outs.
The first game saw the Bulldogs jump out on Wesleyan with a four-run third inning. Karissa DeVore sparked the Adrian offense with a triple to right center that scored Kaitlyn Hinojosa and Jessica Sarch. Kelsey Meyer then followed this with a home run to left center that scored DeVore and gave Adrian the commanding 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs would add two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings that allowed Adrian to take out Wesleyan in six innings. Sarch would go 3-for-4 to lead the Adrian offense that had six batters have multiple hit games.
Stewart (1-0) earned the victory on the mound with six shutout innings and five strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
The second game saw the Bulldogs take on Muhlenberg College. Adrian found themselves behind 1-0 after the first inning, but responded with three runs in the fourth to take the 3-1 lead. K'ya Toles-Burton started the Adrian scoring with a double to left center that scored Kelsey Meyer. Muhlenberg scored one run in the both the fifth and sixth innings, but the Bulldogs would break the game open with a six-run seventh inning on their way to a 11-3 victory. Morgan Brandt singled through the left side to score Hinojosa to start the Adrian scoring in the seventh and DeVore capped the inning with a home run to left center that scored Macy Laws. DeVore went 3-for-five with three runs batted in from the leadoff spot. Toles-Burton went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Brandt went 3-for-3 as the Bulldogs compiled 17 hits for the game.
Kelsey Meyer (1-0) earned the victory on the mound for Adrian with a complete game and five strike outs.
