CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bulldogs continued their play in Clermont, Florida Tuesday as they took on Rose-Hulman and SUNY Potsdam. Adrian took out the Fightin' Engineers in the first game behind Payge Reed as she pitched all six innings for the Bulldogs with seven strike outs. Adrian then advanced to 6-0 with a 12-2 victory over Potsdam highlighted by a seven-run sixth inning.
Game one saw the Bulldogs take on Rose-Hulman. The Bulldogs jumped out on the Fightin' Engineers with two runs in the third inning to take the 2-0 lead on a Karissa DeVore home run to right center that scored Kaitlyn Hinojosa. Adrian then stretched its lead to 7-0 with a five-run fourth inning highlighted by power hitting from the Bulldogs. Morgan Brandt and Karissa DeVore knocked consecutive RBI doubles, and Taylor Van't Land hit a triple down the right field line that scored Mackenzie King and DeVore. Adrian would add two more runs in the sixth to secure a 9-0 win. A costly Rose-Hulman error and a Kallie Derrer bunt single allowed the Bulldogs to earn their fifth victory of the season.
Payge Reed (2-0) made her first career start in the circle for the Bulldogs and earned the victory with seven strike outs.
The Bulldogs took on SUNY Potsdam in their second game of the day. Katie Jenkins (1-0) made her first career start and earned the victory with 2.1 innings pitched and two strikeouts. The Bulldogs would tally two runs in each of the first and third innings highlighted by Morgan Brandt's first career home run that scored Hinojosa in the third. Potsdam fought to stay in the game with runs in the second and third as Adrian found themselves up, 5-2, after five innings. Adrian then broke the game wide open with a seven-run sixth inning that put the game out of reach. Kaitlyn Hinojosa singled to score Brooke Stewart to begin the offensive surge. The Bulldogs would respond by loading the bases before Kelsey Meyer doubled down the left field line to score all three runs and advance the Adrian lead to 10-2. Adrian would add a pair of insurance runs before the inning ended on their way to a 12-2 victory in six innings.
