ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian Bulldogs finished their doubleheader with No. 8 Trine University Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs took a 7-6 loss March 29 before they completed their two-game stint with the Thunder Monday afternoon. Trine was able to keep the Adrian attack in check as they took a 3-0 win while holding the Bulldogs to three hits.
The Thunder and Bulldogs remained scoreless after two innings as Kelsey Meyer made the start in the circle for Adrian. Trine broke the tie in the third inning as they recorded back-to-back doubles followed by an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead. The Thunder would extend their lead to 3-0 following an RBI double in the fourth. Meyer pitched 3.1 innings to take the decision for Adrian and recorded three strikeouts. Brooke Stewart took relief in the fourth inning and pitched 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
The Bulldogs saw hits scattered from K'ya Toles-Burton and Taylor Van't Land, but Adrian could not make the most of their opportunities. Morgan Brandt knocked a pinch hit double in the sixth inning, but Adrian left her stranded as Trine starter Justine Robles pitched the complete game to earn the victory for the Thunder.
Adrian will see action again tomorrow (Mar. 31) when they host Saint Mary's College for a double header starting at 3:30 p.m.
