ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Albion College Saturday afternoon in a double header. The Bulldogs had an impressive showing as they beat the Britons 8-0 in five innings then followed with a 17-0 victory in five innings highlighted by a perfect game from pitcher Brooke Stewart. Stewart pitched the second perfect game in school history to lead the Bulldogs to a 13-9 overall record with a 3-3 mark in the MIAA.
Adrian took out Albion 8-0 in five innings in game one. Kelsey Meyer made the start in the circle for Adrian and pitched four innings and recorded six strike outs to improve to 3-3 on the season. Katie Jenkins relieved Meyer in the fifth and pitched one inning and struck out two batters.
The Bulldogs opened the game with three runs in the first in a game that saw four Adrian batters have multi-hit games. Morgan Brandt began the scoring for the Bulldogs with a sacrifice to third base that scored Jessica Sarch. Karissa DeVore followed with a RBI double, and Rebecca Greco hit a sacrifice fly to score DeVore as the Bulldogs took command of the game early. The Bulldogs would add four runs in the third and one in the fifth to take the game 8-0. DeVore went 2-for-3 and led Adrian with three RBI.
Adrian then secured their 13th win of the season in game two behind Stewart as she pitched the second perfect game in school history. Stewart struck out the first eight batters she faced on her way to a 12 strikeout performance. The Bulldogs offense backed up the historical performance from Stewart as they combined for 19 hits and 17 runs scored. K'ya Toles-Burton went 4-for-4 in the game with two home runs and five RBI. Kaitlyn Hinojosa also recorded a 4-for-4 game with a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the first and opened up the game with a five-run third. Stewart also aided her victory in the circle with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.
