ALMA, Mich. – The Bulldogs traveled to Alma College to take on the Scots Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs looked to catch up to the first place Scots as they came in with a 7-1 record in the MIAA and the Bulldogs stood at 3-3.
Game one saw Adrian fall to Alma 6-0 after the Scots broke open the game with a three-run first. Kelsey Meyer drew the decision in the circle for Adrian as she pitched 4.1 innings, allowed five runs, and struck out three. The Scots would add one run in the second and two more in the fifth as they took their 6-0 win in game one. The Bulldogs recorded four hits and committed two errors as they suffered their first loss in their last six games.
Game two saw the Bulldogs fall, 12-2, in six innings. Adrian trailed 5-0 after four innings before they cut the Scots lead to three with a two-run fifth. K'ya Toles-Burton hit her sixth home run of the season on a solo shot. Kaitlyn Schneider then singled to right field to keep the rally going. Macy Laws would then drive in Schneider on a single to left center and the Bulldogs headed into the sixth down three. Alma would open the game in the sixth with seven runs on five hits and two Adrian errors as they took a 12-2 lead. The Bulldogs were not able to respond in the bottom of the inning as they fell to 15-11 on the season with a 3-5 mark in the MIAA.
Payge Reed (3-1) suffered her first career loss as she pitched 3.1 innings, allowed four runs, and struck out two. Kaitlin Lock came in relief for 2.1 innings, allowed seven runs with just one being an earned run and Katie Jenkins recorded the final out for Adrian.
The home run by Toles-Burton set the single season record for the Bulldogs as they now have 27 in 2015.
