ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Olivet College Tuesday afternoon in their final home doubleheader of 2015. Adrian surrendered a 5-2 loss in game one before they took a 10-3 win in game two behind senior pitcher Brooke Stewart. Stewart pitched the complete game to earn the win for the Bulldogs as they now stand at 19-13, 7-7 on the season.
The Bulldogs surrendered five runs in the fifth inning of game one as the Comets capitalized on two Adrian errors to take the 5-0 lead. Adrian would tally one run in the bottom of the fifth when Taylor Van't Land scored following a Comet error. The Bulldogs would cut the lead to 5-2 in their final at bat as Stewart doubled down the left field line to score Van't Land, but the Comets would hold on to secure the victory.
Stewart (5-3) stepped into the circle in game two and pitched the complete game with nine strike outs. The Bulldogs would break open the game with a four-run fifth inning started by an RBI single from Jaime Lightner. Kaitlyn Hinojosa then walked to force in Karissa DeVore and Morgan Brandt followed with a two-run double to left center. Adrian would add to their lead in the sixth as Kaitlyn Schneider knocked an RBI single to right field and in the seventh as Brandt hit a RBI double while K'ya Toles-Burton followed with an RBI single. The Bulldogs secured their 10-3 win as they now stand at 7-7 in the MIAA.
