HOLLAND, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Hope College in their final regular season doubleheader of 2015. The Flying Dutch took game one as they scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to secure a 4-2 win. The Bulldogs then battled back to earn the split as Brooke Stewart led Adrian with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate and a complete game with nine strike outs in the circle. Adrian took game two by a 4-3 final and finished their season 20-16 overall with a 8-8 mark in the MIAA.
Kelsey Meyer (6-7) made the start in the circle for the Bulldogs and pitched the complete game with one strike out to take the decision. Hope scored first in the bottom of the first inning to take the early 1-0 lead. Adrian then jumped on top of the Flying Dutch with a two-run fourth as Stewart hit a RBI single that scored K'ya Toles-Burton and Morgan Brandt. Hope would fight back to tie the game in the fifth inning and take over the lead for good with two runs in the sixth as Adrian dropped game one, 4-2.
Stewart (6-3) then stepped into the circle in game two and pitched the complete game with nine strike outs to earn the victory for Adrian. Stewart would also lead the Bulldogs offensively as she went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
Adrian took the 2-0 lead following their first at bat as Karissa DeVore hit a sacrifice fly that scored Kaitlyn Hinojosa and Stewart singled to score Brandt. Hope scored once in the second but Adrian gained their two-run lead once again in the fourth as Taylor Van't Land singled through the right side to score Stewart. Hope's two runs in the top of the sixth tied the game, 3-3, but Adrian remained poised as Jaime Lightner singled up the middle to score Stewart to give the Bulldogs the lead for good.
