FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced its All-MIAA softball team for the 2015 season, and the Bulldogs have been represented by senior Brooke Stewart (first team) and junior K'ya Toles-Burton (second team).
Stewart (Onsted, Mich.) has been named as a First Team All-MIAA selection for the first time in her career. She capped her final season as a Bulldog with outstanding all-around play from the field, the circle, and at the plate. Stewart batted .511 in conference play, which was fourth best in the MIAA. She also compiled a 1.93 earned run average with 50 strikeouts, good for fourth and third in the conference respectively. Stewart added to her stellar season with the 10th perfect game in MIAA history on April 4 against Albion College as she struck out 12 batters to lead the Bulldogs to a 17-0 win. Stewart was also stout defensively from her shortstop position were she recorded 14 putouts and 16 assists for a .909 fielding percentage.
Toles-Burton (South Bend, Ind.) has been honored as a Second Team All-MIAA selection. She finished second in the MIAA in home runs in conference play (6) and in slugging percentage (1.030). Toles-Burton totaled 14 hits, 17 RBI, and a .424 batting average in 11 conference games played. She recorded a .457 on-base percentage with nine runs scored and two doubles.
