TIFFIN, Ohio - The women's tennis team captured a 7-2 road win at Heidelberg University on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs evened their record at 2-2 early this spring. Adrian took care of things at two and three doubles to give AC a 2-1 lead heading into singles. Shannon Woods and Sarah Brooks combined forces for an 8-4 win at two doubles. Jordenne Ferenczi and Karen Kienitz picked up a point at three doubles with a 8-5 win.
"Shelby Kruszewski and Shannon Woods each had tremendous three-set victories and showed a lot of heart in their singles matches," said head coach Adam Albertsen. "This was a great team win. Each player on our roster contributed with a win in either singles or doubles."
Adrian proceeded to win five of the six singles matches including one through three singles. Kruszewski dropped the first set 6-3 and then focused to come back and blank Deidre Potter 6-0, 6-0. Woods also went the distance at two singles with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Kayla Gerber. Sarah Kean won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at three singles over Jackie Earl.
Ferenczi (6-4, 6-0) at five singles and Elida Omerkic (8-6) at six singles rounded out the win. The Lady Bulldogs return to the courts on March 19 with a home match against Cornerstone University.
