FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The women's tennis under new head coach Maxim Sukalo picked up their first win of the season on Friday (Sept. 19) with a 5-4 victory at Saint Francis (Ind.). The Bulldogs found themselves down 2-1 after doubles. Kylee Bezeau and Justine Hanson picked up the point at No. 3 doubles with an 8-4 decision over Courtney Witte and Victoria Knight.
Bezeau would play the winning role in the team's clinching point as she defeated Shelby Richardson at No. 3 singles (6-3, 7-5). Freshman McKenzie Krieg won at No. 4 singles in her first match with the team by defeating Witte (6-1, 6-3). Arielle Williams won her No. 2 singles match over Rebecca Faber (6-2, 6-3). Hanson also gave the Bulldogs a win at No. 5 singles over Sydney Ford (6-1, 6-3) for her 23rd career singles win.
"I give 100 percent of the credit to the players," said Sukalo. "For the past three weeks, my players have learned the standards of the Adrian College Tennis program. They demonstrated those standards today by listening, applying positive energy and re-defining winning by playing their best tennis."
