ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's tennis team captured a historic win on Friday with a 6-3 decision against Albion College. The Bulldogs had not defeated the Britons since the MIAA began play in 1979. The win pushes the team's overall record to 10-7 while having a 3-3 MIAA record.
The Bulldogs got off to a 2-1 lead after doubles by virtue of winning at the two and three spots. Morgan Spencer and Kylee Bezeau were pushed to the limit at two doubles winning 9-8 (7-4) against Lauren Rasmussen and Olivia Conover. Justine Hanson and Victoria Watson also got a challenge at three doubles before winning 8-5 versus Rachel Berry and Jessica Scott.
The Britons won the first two singles matches as Irene Chen defeated Arielle Williams (6-1, 6-4) at one singles and Margaux Kabodian defeated Renae Adams Almasy (6-1, 6-0) at two doubles. The Bulldogs closed out the match by winning the final four singles matches all in straight sets.
Spencer got the best of Rasmussen at three singles by scores of 6-2, 6-4. Bezeau defeated Conover at four singles by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Hanson breezed past Barry at five singles by scores of 6-3, 6-0. McKenzie Krieg wrapped up a 6-1, 6-1 win at six singles against Scott.
