NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team competed in two matches today on the campus of Saint Mary's College (Ind.). The Bulldogs fell to Saint Mary's 3-0 (25-23, 29-27, 25-17) in match one and dropped a hard fought battle to Manchester College, 3-2 (10-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-4), in the nightcap.
In match one against the Belles (4-7, 3-4 MIAA), Adrian (2-12, 2-4) was led by sophomore Elise Mindick with nine kills. Also making their presence felt on offense were freshmen Andrea Phillips and Linnea Berriman and junior Stephanie Holloman who each had seven kills. On defense sophomore Kristi Walker recorded a game-high 16 digs, followed by classmate Casey Donovan with 13. Also contributing was Phillips with eight digs.
Holloman chipped in on defense with a game-high five block assists.
In the nightcap, the lady Bulldogs took on a tough Spartans team who coming in had a 10-4 record. Adrian was up 2-0, including a dominant 25-10 win in game one, however Manchester rallied and won set three (25-23) and set four (25-18) to even the score 2-2. The Spartans would carry that momentum into the final set and win 15-4.
Philllips had a career match with highs of 14 kills and 16 digs. Also setting a career-high were Donovan (20 digs) and Walker (31 digs). Not to be outdone Berriman set a career-high with nine kills.
Adrian is back in action as it travels to Kalamazoo on Wednesday, September 28, for a 7:00 pm match-up.
