ADRIAN, Mich. — An all-around team effort helped the Adrian volleyball team register a straight-set victory over Olivet College on Friday, October 7. It marked the first sweep this season for the Lady Bulldogs.
Adrian (4-16, 3-6 MIAA) held a .344 to .065 hitting advantage in a 25-14, 25-15, 25-17 win. The Lady Bulldogs also out-blocked the Comets 9-1.
Adrian was in the lead the whole match with the exception of an early 2-1 Olivet lead in the third set.
Six different Adrian players earned a point led by sophomore Leah Carswell who had a career-high nine kills. Following Carswell was junior Stephanie Holloman, freshman Andrea Phillips, and sophomore Danielle Bogedin who accounted for seven kills each. Also chipping in on offense was sophomore Elise Mindick and senior Roxanne Duran with five kills apiece.
Junior Kristy DeClercq had a game-high 12 assists, while Mindick followed with 10.
On defense, libero Kristi Walker accumulated a team-high 14 digs. Duran added 10 of her own, while Mindick had seven.
Holloman and Mindick led with four blocks a piece (one solo and three assists).
Adrian looks to make it two-straight wins as they host Alma (12-5, 6-3 MIAA) tomorrow, Oct. 8, at 2:00 p.m. inside the friendly confines of Merillat Gymnasium.
