ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team lost in a hard fought battle with Alma College, 3-0, by the scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 25-22 inside Merillat Gymnasium today (Oct. 8). The Lady Bulldogs fall to 4-17 and 3-7 in the MIAA, while the Scots improve to 13-6 and 7-4 in conference play.
In the third set, Adrian showed resilience when they began a rally started by senior Roxanne Duran's kill, putting the 'Dogs up 10-9. Senior Joanna Slisinger earned the assist. Adrian would maintain the lead and was up 20-15 before Alma called a timeout. The Scots regrouped and went on a 10-2 run to capture the set and the match.
Junior Kristy DeClercq had a team-high 17 assists. Slisinger and Mindick followed with six and eight assists, respectively.
Duran led the Adrian defense with 14 digs. Also earning double-digit-digs was sophomore libero Kristi Walker with 10.
Adrian hits the road for a five-game road trip starting with Trine on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The event will be in conjunction with Dig for the Cure Night. Starting time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
