MARIETTA, Ohio – The women's volleyball team (4-7) dropped two matches Friday against Defiance College (7-3) and Ohio Wesleyan (8-4) in the Marietta Tournament, 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.
The team lost three straight sets to Defiance (17-25, 17-25, 18-25) with team totals of 26 kills and 53 digs, and dropped the last three sets against Ohio Wesleyan (25-14, 21-25, 21-25, 14-25) after winning the first set behind 43 team kills and 82 team digs.
In both contests, Jordan Brisson led in team kills with 14 for each match, while Linnea Berriman finished second on the team with six kills in the first match, and third on the team with seven kills in the latter matchup.
Emily Ribant led the team with 16 and 27 digs, respectively. Ellie MIndick finished second on the team in digs in both matches with 12 in the first match and 22 in the second match.
Ashley Vernier led the team in assists with nine in the first match, while Carly Tyson was the team leader in assists with 20 in the second match and tied for second with seven assists in the first match. Kristy DeClercq finished second in assists in both matches with seven and nine, respectively.
The team looks to rebound in the tournament Saturday with matches against Hiram at 9:30 a.m., and Marietta at 12:30 p.m.
