ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's volleyball team welcomed fourth-ranked Hope College to Merillat Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon and for the second time this season the Flying Dutch swept the Bulldogs in straight sets (9-25, 13-25, 17-25). The Bulldogs slip to 11-13 overall and 4-6 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Hope improves to 17-2 overall and 9-1 in the league.
Adrian is now 5-7 in three-set matches this season and 2-5 at home. Hope jumped on the Bulldogs to the tune of 6-0 early in the first set and cruised to the first set win (9-25). Adrian could not find the winning formula against a talented Hope squad.
Adrian hit .082 for the match with 26 kills, 18 errors and 98 attacks. Hope had a great hitting match with 44 kills, 5 errors and 94 attacks for a .415 percentage. Freshman Jordan Brisson led the Bulldogs with nine kills and hit .143. Hope was led by Jenna Grasmeyer's 12 kills and she also had eight digs.
The best hitting set for Adrian was the second with a .182 percentage and 10 kills. Junior Ellie Mindick had eight kills and seven digs for Adrian. Senior Kristy DeClercq led her team with 11 assists and also had three digs. Adrian had just one service ace for the match by junior Casey Donovan.
