ELMHURST, Ill. - Adrian College lost to #12 Chicago in their season opener on Friday afternoon. They played the nationally-ranked team tough losing their first match 25-18. The following two matches did not see the ball bounce the Bulldogs' way as Chicago recorded the victory.
The Bulldogs were led by Jordan Brisson who had five kills, eight digs, and a hitting percentage of .308.
The second match saw Adrian Collge fall just short to Buena Vista 3-1. The Bulldogs again played tough losing each set by no more than eight points including a 25-22 opener. Adrian College lost the first two sets but rebounded in the third with a 25-17 victory. The Bulldogs fought hard in the fourth set, but fell just short.
Brisson again led the way with 14 kills, 11 digs, and a hitting percentage of .323. Linnea Berriman was also a contributor recording seven kills and a hitting percentage of .375.
Second-year Head Coach David Kwan had a positive approach to the day, "even though we went 0-2 today, I am learning new things about my team all the time. First off, I think we have some very talented freshmen. You never really know how freshmen will act until they step on a college volleyball court and play some really tough matches. Joubran, Dion, Walters and Reed all took advantage of their opportunities and ran with them. Some of our returners like Brisson, Berriman, and Mindick showed they are again hungy to win. We are hoping this leads the way for others to step up tomorrow".
The Elmhurst tournament continues on Saturday with the Bulldogs playing Illinois Wesleyan and Coe.
