Adrian, Mich.-Adrian College opened both at home and in conference versus Kalamazoo College at the Merillat gymnasium. The Bulldogs fell in five sets 19-25, 25-19, 10-25, 25-21, 15-9. Adrian College fought hard to ensure the match went the distance only to fall short in the tie breaking set.
The first set saw the Bulldogs fall behind early 3-1 and they could not recover, falling 25-21. The Bulldogs rebounded in a close second set that had three early lead changes before Adrian College sealed the win 25-19. The third set was completely controlled by Kalamazoo with an overwhelming 25-10 win. Adrian College refused to quit forcing the match to a fifth set with a close 25-21 win. This fourth set was sealed when Adrian College went on a 4 point run to break a 20-20 tie and ensure a tie breaking fifth set. The final set was back and forth the entire way, but the Bulldogs were never able to gain the lead and eventually fell to the Hornets 15-9 dropping their first conference match.
Jordan Brisson continued her offensive presence for the Bulldogs as she recorded 15 kills. Ellie Mindick added an impressive defensive performance totaling 25 digs. Freshman Marissa Dion added her name to the box score as well, compiling eight assists.
Adrian College will play its next match tomorrow, September 7th, away at Albion at 3 p.m.
