NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - It was a banner weekend for the Adrian College women's volleyball team as they took care of all four matches en route to a perfect 4-0 record at the Pizza Hut Manchester Tournament. After two wins on Friday, it was two more wins on Saturday over Manchester (18-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19) and Anderson (20-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-13, 15-6).
Adrian trailed in both matches but the key comeback against Anderson was truly the match of the season so far. Down two sets, the Bulldogs roared back with convincing wins in the next three sets. The Bulldogs are now 4-7 overall.
"This was a great weekend for our team to gain some confidence," said head coach David Kwan. "Falling behind is never the plan, but credit our team for being patient and pulling our big wins. Jordan Brisson played very well this weekend and hopefully we can continue this momentum into this week and beyond."
Brisson was named the tournament MVP after compiling 54 kills, 16 digs, 12 blocks and a .281 hitting percentage over the weekend. She tallied 15 kills and a .625 hitting percentage in the win over Manchester and then added 12 kills, five digs and four blocks against Anderson.
Kristi Walker also was a member of the all-tournament team on the defensive side. She had 13 digs and two service aces against Manchester. Adrian hit .152 for the Manchester match and .207 against Anderson.
