ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College looked to continue their momentum from an undefeated weekend as they took on Olivet College in their second home match of the season. This was a close match that saw back and forth game play through all three sets, but the Bulldogs fell 25-20, 25-20, 25-23.
The first started off with Olivet controlling play and taking a six to zero advantage early. Adrian College rebounded to tie the set at nine, but Olivet rebounded to go on a four-point run. The Bulldogs fought hard the rest of this set, but were not able to get the set back to an even score. The second set again started with Olivet taking the early lead. After falling down three to zero early, the Bulldogs rallied with a three-point run of their own to put the set at a close eight to seven score. Olivet then proceeded to take six straight points that Adrian College was not able to recover from despite their fearless play. The third set was back and forth early until Olivet College pulled ahead 18-13. The Bulldogs refused to quit going on a three-point run that put them within a score. Adrian College could not tie the game to force extra play, and they fell to the Comets three sets to none.
Amanda Abney carried the Bulldog offense with 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .562. Nicole Motz and Marisa Dion contributed with a total of 36 assists as they split play, and libero Kristi Walker again led the defense with 12 digs.
Adrian College will play next at Trine University this Friday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m.
