ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College fought off a quick start by Saint Mary's, and rallied to win three straight sets to win the match (14-25, 11-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-11). This was the Bulldogs first conference win of the year as they improved to 5-11, 1-7 MIAA.
The Belles started off strong by winning the first two sets in a decisive manner. They set up double blocks consistently to keep the Bulldogs outside hitter Jordan Brisson contained. Coach David Kwan and his staff made adjustments going into the third set that allowed Adrian College to rally. Jordan Busse entered the match as an outside hitter, and went on to lead the Bulldogs with 11 kills. Kristi Walker was also moved to middle back, and went on to lead the Bulldog defense by totaling 23 digs. This fueled Adrian College, and in turn rattled Saint Mary's as they compiled 27 errors for the match. Carly Tyson and Nicole Motz took turns adding to the Bulldog offensive surge tallying 21 and 18 assists respectively.
Kwan was elated to see his team rally, "When you get to a point where your team is not getting it done, changes need to be made. Jordan Busse has been chomping at the bit to get her chance all year, and she made the most of this opportunity. The team rallied when she entered. Kristi Walker was also a key contributor. She made all the right plays from her middle back position and really stabilized that spot for the rest of the match."
This Bulldog rally was also led by Linnea Berriman who led all Adrian College hitters with a .455 hitting percentage and finished second on the team with 10 kills.
The Bulldogs will play their next match Friday, October 4 at Siena Heights at 7 p.m.
