ADRIAN, Mich.- The Bulldogs extended their set win streak to six in a sweep of the Britons of Albion College Tuesday night. Adrian College continued to play well on their way to their second conference victory of the year (25-21, 25-15, 25-16) to improve to 7-13 overall and 2-8 in the MIAA.
The first set saw the Bulldogs trailing 15-14 when Adrian sparked runs of four and five points to control the set and take an early 1-0 match lead. The Britons again took a lead in the second set 10-9, but the Bulldogs rallied with two seven point runs to win the set in commanding fashion, 25-15. Adrian College then sealed their victory in the third set by gaining the lead early 2-1. They never squandered this early advantage and sealed the three set sweep with a five point run to win the set 25-16, and the match 3-0.
Coach David Kwan was thrilled with his team's performance, "We are a significantly different team from our first match with Albion (on September 7th). Kristi Walker is back and she makes an enormous impact on our team. She is a contributor both on the back end and as a server. I thought we really capitalized on our opportunities tonight, and we were able to take advantage of some of the mistakes that Albion made. Linnea Berriman played extremely well tonight. She is developing into a prominent player for us. I also thought our experienced players pulled through tonight in the likes of Ellie Mindick, Carly Tyson, Kristi Walker, and Jordan Busse."
Linnea Berriman led the Bulldogs in kills with 10 and was second on the team with a hitting percentage of .444. Kristi Walker led the defense by compiling 12 digs, and also in service aces with three. Nicole Motz added 16 assists, and Jordan Brisson totaled eight kills to contribute to the victory.
The Bulldogs will play again at home Tuesday, October 15th against Alma at 6:30 p.m.
