MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team finished up their play in the Allegheny Gator invitational Saturday afternoon as they took on Thiel College and Pitt-Greensburg. The Bulldogs remained perfect as they did not surrender a set for the weekend and won both matches by a 3-0 score. This advances the win streak for Adrian to six and improves their overall record to 8-5.
The Bulldogs opened their second day against Thiel College. The Bulldogs swept the Tomcats 25-21, 25-18, 25-23. Thiel fought Adrian through all three sets as they pushed the Bulldogs into the final points, but Adrian prevailed to ensure their sweep. The Bulldogs were led by Linnea Berriman as she compiled 10 kills while hitting .529. Margo Joubran totaled seven kills and 15 digs while Marisa Dion added 23 assists. Haley Mellon and Jacolyn Mullins led the defense as they recorded 22 and 14 digs respectively.
The second match of the day saw the Bulldogs take on Pitt-Greensburg. The Bulldogs completed their weekend a perfect 4-0 as they swept their fourth straight match by scores of 28-26, 25-12, 25-10. Adrian was led in their second match by Andrea Phillips as she recorded nine kills while hitting .318. Dion added 23 assists while Mellon led the defense with 18 digs. Jordan Brisson and Dion were both named to the All-Tournament Team and the Bulldogs were tournament champs.
The Bulldogs will see action again September 16 when they travel to Trine University to take on the Thunder at 6:30 p.m.
