NOTRE DAME, Ind.-The Bulldogs finished conference play in 2014 on Tuesday night when they took on the Saint Mary's College Belles. Saint Mary's took the first two sets before Adrian battled back to force a fifth and deciding set. The Belles outlasted the Bulldogs to take the match, 3-2, as the overall record for Adrian now sits at 12-16 with a 5-11 mark in the MIAA.
The Belles jumped out on top of the Bulldogs with consecutive wins to start the match. Saint Mary's took a 2-0 lead by taking the initial two sets by respective scores of 25-23 and 25-22. Adrian then looked to battle back into the match as they would take set three by a 25-22 final. The Bulldogs outlasted the Belles in set three by holding off Saint Mary's in a set that saw nine ties. Adrian then evened the match score in set four by overcoming the Belles, 25-23. The Bulldogs secured the first two points of the set and did not surrender their lead throughout the set. Adrian forced the fifth and deciding set by taking the final three points.
The final set was highlighted by Saint Mary's jumping out to a 4-1 lead. The Bulldogs could not overcome this early deficit as the Belles hung out to take out the Bulldogs, 3-2, with a 15-10 win in set five.
Adrian was led by Margo Joubran as she tallied 11 kills and 19 digs. Jordan Brisson recorded 12 kills while Marisa Dion added 20 assists. Haley Mellon and Jacolyn Mullins led with defense with 11 digs a piece.
