BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team went 1-1 on day two of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament. The Bulldogs took Simpson to a fifth set and had an opportunity to take the match only losing the set by two points (17-15). They would finish the day by sweeping Millikin to put their record in the two day tournament to 1-3.
Senior Jordan Brisson led the Bulldogs offense in the first match with 17 kills. She also contributed on defense with nine digs and one block. Margo Joubran also contributed on offense in the first match with 10 kills.
The offense was paced by Marisa Dion and Nicole Motz who tallied 28 and 16 assists respectively.
Rachel Wathen led the team in digs with 25. Jacolyn Mullins (23 digs) and Haley Mellon (21 digs) also helped on defense.
Olivia Welch led the offense in the second game of the day with 11 kills. She also recorded 14 digs. Wathen led the way on defense in this match as well, recording 20 digs. Mellon tallied another 10 digs for this match.
Dion was the sole pace setter in the second match on offense with 16 assists.
Adrian will continue their conference season Wednesday October 6 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., to take on the Calvin Knights. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
