LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Monday, July 24 that the Adrian College women's volleyball team was named a recipient of the 2016-17 AVCA Team Academic Award.
The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Adrian finished the 2016-17 school year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.98, the highest in the conference, to receive its sixth AVCA Team Academic Award (1994-95, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2012-13, and 2015-16), third in the David Kwan era, since the inception of the award in the 1992-93 academic year.
The Bulldogs kick off the 2017 season on September 1 at the Summer Spiketacular hosted by Bluffton University. Adrian will start the weekend playing host Bluffton (2:00 p.m.) and DePauw (6:00 p.m.) on day one of the two-day tournament.
